Default Goodbye White Roof

I don't if anyone noticed, but for '22 you can't get the white contrasting roof for the 90 anymore. It was only available on the base 4 cylinder, but now only on some 110 models. I was thinking if I really had to have it I could wrap the roof? Considering most of the roof is glass, it wouldn't cost very much.

Has anyone thought of doing this?

I checked the 2022 configurator, I still see it with my 90 S color scheme, carpathian with white roof and white steelies. It looks very cool IMO.

I wonder if the white contrast roof was removed because it's not going to do the job it could do with the mandatory glass roof? A white contrast roof is something that is appealing to look at, sure, but it's also functional & purposeful. By having a white roof in a hot & sunny climate, the SUV uses less energy - to run the a/c. A solid white roof would be better at reflecting some of the sun's heat & radiation transferred to the cabin. Because JLR now will only sell Defenders with glass roofs, the point of making the roof white contrast is likely lost. It can still look good, but from an energy conservation perspective, the glass roof with white trim misses the benefits of having it be white. The ideal for energy conservation is a full roof painted white.

I got it on my Land Rover with some cans of white enamel spray. Admittedly, it's not anywhere near as late model as a 2020, but if they last as long as mine, it will be just as appropriate a fix. I don't have a panoramic sunroof, but I do have the dual sun-roofs. Does the white help? Maybe, but not as much as AC. The white was earlier used on the Safari tops -- consisting of two layers of sheet metal separated by a ventilated air-gap. It worked like a double-wall chest cooler. Nowadays, we have a bit of foam as part of the headliner layers and the aforementioned AC. AC pretty much negates the need for white paint except in the most extreme environments. I remember my dad had a black benz in Phoenix and he had to get the windows tinted so the AC could keep up with the weeks-long highs above 110 F.

I painted my roof white because the original paint (green) was just so tattered after decades of exposure. I wasn't about to match the original, so white made the most sense.
