Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac spare tire dripping black goo on bumper
#51
No this has not been resolved. We ended up having and independent lab test the residue from the tire. The results show that one of the compounds in the tire are leaching out. The lab identified the specific compound and material, we have lab reports with the specific product and chemical make-up. It is a filler used in tire production. Land Rover came back and offered to replace the tires once Goodyear produces a new version. I am certain that Goodyear identified the same thing last spring when they have their people test our tires and would not release the results. The hope is that they have reformulated the tire compounds to correct this. The "new" Duratrac is supposedly coming out this spring. We are just in a waiting game. We are still getting some of the residue following rainfall.
We explored other brand options and unfortunately as you all know the design of the wheel well has us in a very limited box. I have read exhaustive posts on alternate tires but do not want to alter the the rims, brakes or otherwise to get other to fit without rubbing.
