It means that while a trailer is attached the system cannot monitor rear traffic due to the obstruction.

You should not see that message unless a trailer is attached. Do you have anything plugged into the trailer socket such as a trailer circuit tester?

Yes, the car thinks you have a trailer connected. So it's deactivating reverse auto braking.

May be corrosion or a wiring issue with the tow socket if nothing's plugged into it. I had corrosion on my socket, didn't cause any issues other than trailer lights not to work though. Another idea -- it could be a bad trailer control module.

thx for this….. what is reverse auto braking? Does this affect normal driving? If so , I guess a trip to the dealer is needed! Thx in advance

No, you should be fine. You could also go into the pivi settings (maybe parking, or driver assistance?) and turn the slider for "auto reverse braking off"

It's basically so you don't back into something, or over a child in your driveway, or a walker crossing behind you as you back up out of a driveway. Quite effective actually. Prevented me a few months ago from backing into our recycling bin which the trash guys had left behind the Defender.

BTW the reason it deactivates when you plug in a trailer... it would just continually stomp on the brakes if if thought there was a big trailer behind you. So, the auto defeat feature is quite handy when plugging in the trailer.

thanks a lot, so basically right now with that message on. My rear sensor is deactivated. That is not a good thing!

I have a appointment to the dealer tomorrow. Going to take her in. I don’t like the fact of losing the rear sensor or breaking.

Will report back….
