It's my setup. It's the Rocky Mounts Backstage swing away carrier and 8" extension.

very nice. I’ll look into this as well. Did you lift your 110, or just add KO2s? Looks great!

[QUOTE=Defender13;756271]I'm looking for examples of racks can be mounted on the rear hitch rather than roof rack. Prefer 2 bike minimum.

Have any of you installed a hitch mounted rack and cleared the spare tire? 1up, Kuat, Thule?

Yup, I’ve got a Thule - 2 bike hitch mount. Went to etrailer and got the HE06, hitch extender 7” and
Item #63232 anti rattle hitch receiver. Works perfectly and enough clearance on the rear tire on the Defender 2020

Well done! Johnson Rods? So a total lift of 1.5 or 1?

Hi all,

I have the 1upUSA rack and as everyone knows, you can't use in on the defender without some type of extension tube. In the picks below, you can see I have black marks on my hitch tube so I know how far to insert the bike rack for our other cars. Sure, I don't have to insert it that far, but this is the minimum to ensure I can still use both trays and my bikes clear.

Rather than just use an extension , I'm looking at other options. This may include getting one of the cargo racks from 1upUSA and adding a tray to it. I will keep everyone posted.

Why not just get an extension?

I suppose it's just me being difficult... (as my wife no doubt say) I need to have another rack anyway, so I might as well look at all of my options.

A cargo rack would be nice as we will no doubt run low on space this spring. When we load the kayaks, mountain bikes, dogs as well as a couple of chairs and a cooler, cargo space gets tight. This way I could strap the cooler, paddles, chairs, and maybe even a dog kennel and still have room inside.

For the times I just go by myself, I can either throw the bike in the back or I am looking at a spare tire mounted rack. I need one like the 1upUSA though that only touches the tires. I just fear that between the new wheel/tire, a rack and my MTB, that is a lot of weight on the rear door.
