Default How to tell differential option on my Defender?

Hey guys,

Going in for my 60k service on my 2021 4 cylinder 110 -

The mechanic asked me to drive by so he could see if my car was with or without a locking differential(since the type of oil matters that needs to be replaced). It's a 35 minute drive so I'd rather find another way, lol.

He said it could not be answered by providing a VIN number.

And I'm not experienced enough in the off-road world to know the difference - so yes feel free to laugh at me I'm slightly embarrassed to even be asking this, but take full responsibility for my lack of knowledge and will just laugh at myself too.

In Pivi select the i4x4, it should show you there if you have one or two locking diffs. I'll try and find a photo showing it (or maybe google for the image).

Isn't the window sticker in the glove box? I would think it must list it as an option. If the sticker isn't in the glove box, folded up in the owners manual or whatever you can buy it online. I might have even obtained mine somewhere free online, I think it was for my Q5 which I traded in for the new '22 Defender. The JLR dealer even said he needed it when he did an appraisal of my '22 Defender when I was thinking of trading it in for a used F-Pace. As it turned out I didn't like the condition of the F-Pace coming off-lease so that deal fell through even through the Defender appraisal was fair at the time.

I do happen to have the window sticker but nothing on there states anything about differential unfortunately.

you have a stock setup
no rear locking e-diff is on your Defender

center locking diff only
rear is regular.

^^ Yea if you don't see off-road pack listed or whatever it was called then I believe you just have the one diff which comes as standard.

Two diffs shown here. Off road pack gets you the rear e diff.

Luckily you don't have the rear locking differential that goes bad at 50,001 miles or 4 years, 1 day of ownership!
