New 2025 Defender owner here. I initially had a hard time getting data services activated, called JLRNA a bunch of times over the course of 2 weeks and got things to work, but on the InControl signup screen it doesn't let me sign in. I get an error, one tech person told me "oh you don't need to sign in there" well why is there a menu option? I've also had random music and phone cut outs that I never had on my other cars.
I am able to start the car remotely using the iPhone app, just a bit confused here.
Mine has acted weird in the past. In fact, for a few months mine kept asking me to log in because it thought I wasn’t logged in, when in fact, I was actually logged in. I knew I was logged in because some of the apps connected to the InControl account were accessible. What I would do is a hard reset by having the accessories on (press the start/stop button without pressing the brake) and hold down the power button on the volume dial until it resets. You could also disconnect the 12v battery under the passenger seat. If that doesn’t work, and if you’re still bothered by it, I’d make a service appointment at your dealer.
You can also try to access your profile by pressing the outline of a person at the top left hand corner of the screen.

Normal state of affairs is that yes, you need to be signed in there. 100%. Once you sign in, with the same account you create when you buy the car (or on the incontrol website), it keeps you logged in, and you're good to go. Something's up.
I have no idea why they would tell you otherwise. This is pretty basic and has been around since 2020.

I had the same issue for long time. remote app works well but not able to log on in the car.
were you able to find a solution?
I am able to log in using the profile icon on the top left, I can't using the option in General settings, I think that might be a bug. Tech support locked my SIM to only use AT&T and that has helped connectivity a lot. I haven't driven the car a lot in the last few weeks so I'm still testing everything, but for the first month of ownership anything that used data wasn't working, CarPlay maps, Apple Music, phone calls, built in weather app, etc would all stop working or not at all.
