I liked these steps because the pad has the same pattern as the inserts on the hood.
1. steps arrived packaged nicely with no issues
2. included the needed clips to remove the trim work to install properly(more on clips below)
3. Had to purchase the twelve M10 stainless washers. They were to be included but were not. Cost me a few bucks at Lowes
INSTALLATION:
Install took about three hours without any rushing. The included clips are not LR issue but they worked well. I used some WD 40 on each one because the fitment in the hole is snug.
Installation thoughts: The splash guard in front of the rear wheel the rear wheel does NOT need to come off. remove the one bolt that holds it to the trim and you are good to go. The soft pans underneath do not need to come off either. You can trim them easily while still installed.
The rear wheel arch does not need to be removed just pull it up from the bottom and leave the top attached.
Could I install without removing the trim-work? YES but I figured lets do it correctly. Removing the trim allows you to put the two bolts on each bracket that hold it to the side of the vehicle. The extra four bolts will provide strength and rigidity to the unit.
I used a Dremel with a cutting wheel to cut the panels once removed as well as the soft panels underneath
Not too difficult at all.. they just take time.
The fitment was perfect. I am quite happy with the end result.
They look great, thanks for the info. Just added to my Christmas list. My mini aussie can’t quite make the leap in or out without a step like we have in the jeep or the hummer, good to see a high quality step that I can install myself and looks great.
