Default Instrument Cluster Brightness

I did a search here and didn't find much. The instrument cluster in my '26 110 V8 is too dim and keeps changing brightness on its own all the time, Is there any way to set it on the desired brightness and leave it there? The tiny dial button below the parking brake is already set to max brightness but the cluster goes very dim even on sunny days. I looked into pivi options, nothing. CCF edit somewhere, maybe?

Edit: In my '25 Range Rover the brightness is constant, it's perfect.

Incidentally, I found it by accident after 16 months of owning the vehicle.

Open the driver's door, look under the handbrake, there's an area with the icon, and the control in the middle - you might need to press it to pop it out, or, like in my case, it may be already out.

I did that already. Doesn't work. The cluster still dims to very low brightness apparently in a random manner. Maybe it has to do with the daylight hitting some sensor or not but I wish I could turn off this auto-brightness thing and just set it manually.

I' gave up making it crisp and bright like other brand cars. I don't think there is any cure unfortunately.

That's not very encouraging....

Unfortunately there isn’t anything you can do about it. I just learned to live with it constantly adjusting itself.

This is a very common complaint with the Defender - and has been for years. Seems JLR is unwilling to do the needful and make screen brightness something that we can actually define for ourselves in system settings.

It's especially bad on a rainy, cloudy day. I've had 7 eye surgeries that resulted in me having low-light vision loss and its dangerous for me to spend as much time staring at the instrument cluster as I do because JLR won't allow me to increase the brightness of it.

I agree, I have complained about this and some other quirks a while back when they sent me a survey. They had a feedback suggestion box, I almost wrote a book in there.
