Yet another OEM part that JLR priced as if it were gold plated (filled?). Even for Benz these are $300. Double that and you almost get a "Genuine Land Rover" part.
Here is what the finisher panel looks like on the back side. I would recommend unbolting the seats to give you more room as you want to pull the full panel (side of the console off) as the wood finisher is screwed to it from the back side. Please note that toward the front of the car, where your feet are it slots into the trim in the front, so you pull the clips off (outward) and then pull the full panel back to get it out of this slot. Hope that makes sense. See pics for more below. What are the finishes of the finishers you are removing?
I am looking to replace my black ones that use the same "neoprene" material as the door arm rests.
I just bought the wood trim for my black Interior (75th). I do not personally prefer wood trims usually but I really like wood trims on LRs.
Especially on my 75th limited, I like the contrast between exposed green exterior color inside of my car with walnut trim (even though it's black interior). And hoping to add more of 'heritage' feel with wood trims.
So far, I installed just door handle only. If I remove E-Torx 11 seat bolts and laying back, everything else will be more straight forward?
What I saw was: remove exposed Torx on the trims and plastic trims are secured with only clips. If you dont mind, can you please confirm?
Thanks,
Are you speaking of the center console side trims?
It would indeed be easier if you undid the seat bolts and lay them back. I will say. I did remove the entire plastic leftsSide of my center console once (to install a GMRS radio and wiring) without removing the drivers seat. I ended up breaking one clip, maybe not “advisable” -- so undoing the seat is the better course of action if you are trying to remove the entire side of the console. Which is needed to then undo those hockey stick trims to put the wood trims onto the side console piece. This video from Simon in the uK shows exactly what is required, in good detail --
Definitely remove the seat bolts and slide the seats back. Makes your life a ton easier. I can't see how you can even do it without moving the seats... and if you could, you'd surely break a few clips.
I maybe the rare (or weirdo) since I took off black hexagon textured fabric center trims + satin silver door trim to walnut wood.
I never knew I'll spend money to buy wood trim for my car ever but I wanted some color inside and matte walnut seems like its complementing the 75th somewhat retro color exterior well so I just made a move.
Removing seats (just to put as far as possible from the center trim without removing any harnesses) helped. That 1-1.5" extra space is what I really needed to access the long center clips.
Thanks everyone here sharing their tips from the experience. Really helped me a lot.
One note though, I didn't (couldn't) install the end metal plates on the genuine wood trim as inside of my original and wood trims shaped differently (all bolts/clips lined up perfectly but didn't have metal bracket holding area at the end also clip area shaped differently on the plate covering area). Maybe this is updated design. Other than that, everything worked out perfectly.
@isugoo, would you be interested in selling my your hexagon center console finishers?
Didn't think of it but def. interested selling it.
I have 2 x center console trims and 1 x matte silver door handle if you like. PM me your offer and cell#. I can send you pictures.
The wood was the way to go. Definitely adds to the retro vibe. I'm glad I specced my Defender with the wood, as for the 2025MY, all wood trim has been discontinued across all trim levels.

What trims come in these days then? Can't believe they discontinued wood trim on all level.
any one able to source the robustek ones in the V8s?
I replaced the trim pieces in my V8 because I preferred the look of the wood even though I’m pretty sure it’s painted plastic. It certainly didn’t look like wood veneer over plastic when I installed.
I have the robustek still in my V8. I have the rough cut walnut center pieces but haven’t gotten around to replacing yet.
