Invitation to see the OCTA unveiling (and updates)
PNW - Well, our thought patterns and projected use are on the same track although at present I going with the Duratracs. A tire youtuber (trail built) highly recommends the BFG. He is in Wisconsin, where my OCTA will likely end up so a pretty good reference. I am quite sure I have been swayed by the forum’s hard core off-roaders (hence tire freaks KO2’s etc.) in making my decision. Therefore pleased to hear from a forum user about your decision. I may change my mind and go with the BFG’s. Another thing I considered is the Duratracs at an extra $350.00 seem to be a bargain, but it is difficult to compare retail vs OEM prices. Thanks.
Jim, I've had BFG A/T's on pickups and SUV's going back into the 1980's, thus I'm a big BFG fan loving the feel, long life, and lack of heavy road noise...yet I have never tried the Trail Terrain.
The A/T were never the best on ice or compacted snow I've felt but then I discovered having them siped - wow is all I can say to the difference. An empty bed pickup with siped AT's is solid even under snow/ice corner acceleration. Braking with a siped A/T in ice is amazing, you screech to a stop almost as on dry pavement. I'm not sure what the application or difference would be siping a BFG Trail. In our PNW market Les Schwab (regional tire chain) will sipe a new tire for very little money on an automatic machine in store.
I do love the look of the Duratracs though, so find myself second guessing a bit. And yes, the $350 upgrade is a steal.
