FYI: A standard garden variety lead acid / AGM / Li-Ion CTEK which charges as a trickle charger is not a power supply and won't function as such

There are a couple models of CTEK (I have one) that act a as power supply and have a power supply mode. The easy way to tell = it's sort of 2x the size of the smaller ctek chargers.

This was a surprise to me. Until I got the one that acted as a power supply.

 

Yep, the drive did it. So essentially it is backwards from a software update. Then again if you did a software update while driving, it could be catastrophic.

 

Which unit died you get? I got one recently and it seems to act as a power supply, but only for 7A, and it's their most expensive model.

 

I think I got the same one… The 7002. Did you see something from JLR where it said it should be more than 7 A?

I did check on the JLR recommended Midtronics power supply and they were very expensive. Like $550… I’m not sure if it really matters though because I’ve used this one successfully doing my gap tool and updating the nav (48 mins last time



).
