JLR to restart exports into the US
Correction: Tariffs beyond 100,000 cars will be 27.5%
However, in total, just slightly under 100,000 British cars (all makes) were imported into the U.S. in 2024, so for the time being the tariff should be "only" 10%.
Again, still informal and subject to change.

I hope they don't, but I wouldn't put it past US dealers to add a fake 'tariff' fee, because let's face it, during Covid they added a mysterious 'Market Adjustment' which in my case was an extra $4k to my 2022.
Must have been a lot of pressure to lower the UK tariffs 😄
“We took it from 25 to 10 on Rolls-Royce, because Rolls-Royce is not going to be built here. I wouldn't even ask them to do that. It's a very special car, and it's a very limited number, too," Trump said. "It's not, you know, one of the monster car companies that makes millions of cars. They make a very small number of cars that are super luxury."

I posed a question when the “Trump” tariffs started to come into play and never got an answer I could “take to the bank”. I took delivery of my Defender in late March so I am OK. But - the Defender is made in Slovakia and mine was transported then loaded on a ship in France or Germany as far as I can tell. The ship did dock in Southampton before sailing to Baltimore. So, is this UK deal even relevant for Defenders?
Ah yes, I forgot: Defenders are not made in England these days.
The W.H. certainly won't have Slovenia up there with the same priority as England. Unfortunately, that means there will still be a minimum 25% tariff on Defenders, probably on top of at least 10%.
Edit: Slovenia's tariff rate, before this mess, was about 1.4%. It's now 20%. I believe cars will be taxed an extra 25% on top of that.
Another edit: The 25% car tariff is active now (except for England, and possible caveats about ships already sailing). The blanket 10% tariffs are also active now. Only the "reciprocal" (above the base 10%) tariffs are paused for the moment.
So, for any Defender newly loaded on a ship, the tariffs will currently come to at least 35%.
"Let them eat Rolls Royce's!"

I'm new, as I await my MY2025. This is a complicated issue and we will surely get some clarity soon from JLR. What I've heard from the dealer and believe to be true, is that while Defenders are manufactured in Slovakia, they will be classified as a UK car and be subject to the new 10% tariff. This is because they are engineered in the UK and most parts, like the engine, are manufactured in the UK.
Sorry about the “Slovakia” vs “Slovenia” mistake. Slovenia is an EU member so I would think it would be a part of the EU agreement but I’m not sure. It would be satisfying to me if someone could provide a more factual recourse on a British car made in Slovenia with parts from all over, owned by an Indian company transported and shipped from various European ports to various US ports. I graduated university in the 70’s and must have missed this course.
