Land Rover Remote APP Reliability
The Land Rover Remote app on my phone is a handy thing. Under "Journeys" it gives the details of each little trip you make, including the Efficiency mpg. How reliable is the mpg information?
On some trips its 18 mpg, which I would expect, on others 24.2 mpg which would be great if true. The last figure was for my daily commute, fairly constant speed around 45 mph, few stops.

I use the Remote app frequently, to start the vehicle from indoors so it isn’t 120 degrees when I get in it. In a previous post I had made mention of the valuable information contained in the app, especially under the Journeys section. I had made a 6 hour drive from the Atlantic coast to the Gulf coast of Florida, and upon returning I spent some time analyzing the mileage data and it seems to be accurate. Looking at individual legs of the trip it is not uncommon to see wide swings in the miles per gallon. Mine ranged from 16.7 mpg to 25.4, this being due to the short segments and the type of driving. Going through some towns, with traffic lights, stop and go traffic and stopping for gas or a drive thru for coffee will put a big hit on the fuel efficiency for that leg. On the more open road stretches where I was able to maintain a steady speed the efficiency goes way up. This was in direct correlation with the data I pored over in the Journeys section. Big thing to keep in mind is when using averages, it takes many miles over a long period to reflect any changes. Short trips will make the variations wider. As an aside, I love being able to look at my iPhone from my couch in the evening to see how much fuel I have and how many miles left till empty, so that I can allow for a need to stop for fuel in the morning without being surprised when I get in it in the morning. With four cars in the family, it’s easy to forget what the last fuel level was when I parked it.

Grrr. Loved your post @WTFChuck until you mentioned four drivers. I have five and they ALWAYS leave it empty when I jump into one of their vehicles....
The journeys feature is particularity handy and especially when leaving the vehicle for service.
I left mine with Land Rover West Houston for service about a year ago and something just said to me “look at the app and make sure the Defender is still on their lot”.
It wasn’t.
Turns out, their service department decided to use my Defender for a McDonald’s breakfast run because the journeys feature showed a trail of breadcrumbs there and back.
I used it to confront the service department, service manager and general manager.
All I got was a half-assed apology and told this kind of thing doesn’t happen and isn’t tolerated.
Apparently it does and is because it happened - with almost no apology or anything.
Told him if I had the misfortune of having to use them again and it happened again, expect to be prosecuted for vehicle theft.
Very handy feature indeed and beware of Jaguar Land Rover West Houston. Terrible dealer experience.

Journeys has been handy for me as well. I get reimbursed for my drives to and from an out-of-county hospital that I'm responsible for inspecting and when I submit for mileage reimbursement it's valuable to be able to review this info. Prior to this I reviewed location info on my iphone but it was not always being retained especially after software updates.
Hello RR Peeps! Could really use your help re: the LR Remote app. As you all may know, there was a new app / update to the app a couple months ago. I used the old app, only in the winter to get the car started in the deep of winter, but other than that - I don't use it very often, actually hardly at all. About a month ago or so I tried it again, but it simply timed out, wouldn't get it started. So, I tried again the other day and it said the car was unlocked. So, I used the app to lock it. And that came up with an error message saying " Vehicle not secure, check security status". THE PROBLEM after that message is now I am completely unable to lock my car. With the key, fingerprint touch or even manually while sitting in the car. I've tried both keys, it's not the key fob battery, as both key fobs open the back liftgate with no problem, it just won't LOCK. So, now I'm stuck with a car that I cannot lock. I called LandRover and they're stumped and of course now need to bring it in. Something is not communicating and it is definitely related to the app. I've also tried deleting the app, reinstalling, etc. ANY THOUGHTS AT ALL??? I did a quick search on YouTube, but only came across some older videos where they said something about disconnecting the battery to "reset" everything. I personally am not capable of doing anything like that and wouldn't want to try - but hoping anyone here might be able to give me some ideas. THANKS A TON ! 2017 RR Sport
