Default A Matter of Opinion

Hello all,

I am looking at wheel options and am strongly considering Tuffant’s Kimberley and Simpson. To those of you who have them, do you like them and have you found them to be sturdy, and resilient?

Additionally, as I am coming from a
lifted Duramax that was used regularly to tow into the back country of Idaho and explore the mountains, I will be using the Defender to continue exploring and want to select a setup most conducive to this. I am therefore debating 18 in vs 20 in wheels. The 18’s permit additional sidewall for airing down, but the 20’s have a great visual ratio with a 32-34” tire (275/70).

Finally, I am planning to install Johnson rods (1.5”), and am curious what size tires those of you running these rods have been able to squeeze in without rubbing? 275/70?

I appreciate the opinions on the two styles, wheel size, and last of all—max tire size.

Any chance you could put up photos of the wheels you are considering?

On paper Tuffant Kimberley are a more robust wheel but I think it's a tossup between them and the Simpson.

Offset is slightly more positive with Kimberley but only by a 2-3mm. (Relevant if your trimming calipers to fit them as I was. Simpson are better suited for that option)

They've taken a few dings and scratches but I bought them to be used.

Looks wise I think Kimberley look good but I also like Simpson. Black, grey, bronze and white available in Kimberley. Black and grey in Simpson.

Cost, I bought the Kimberleys at their pre-release pricing so very similar to Simpson. Now there is a greater difference. Simpson would be my choice at today's prices. .

Pictured shows them wrapped in KO2 265/70 R18

Yes, sorry, that would have been helpful when asking for your opinion.
