Default Media completely dead on PIVI

Currently driving to Mt Mee to do some off-roading, and the media system (I.e. audio) has packed up. If I start playing a song it pauses after a few seconds, permanently stuck in mute, in the ‘media’ app (not CarPlay) you cannot select any option, CarPlay, FM, AM etc. In audio settings it won’t even let you change the options. They just reset when you go to a different page (sub, bass etc). It’s like the speaker system isn’t recognised by the main computer at all; no speaker system. Does anybody know what is wrong? Meridian speakers if that helps.

Fixed by pulling over for 10 minutes or so at a random coffee shop and it fixed itself.

Time to check the health of your battery. Everything I've read about random electrical or computer gremlins can usually be attributed to an old battery.

While normally I would agree with you, I’ve had the exact same problem with my Defender, and my battery is brand new and appears to be healthy. What seems to cause the issue (for me, at least) is a faulty USB plug in the center console. I noticed that the plug was very loose, and if I jiggled it it could cause the inability to select media. So, I now connect my phone wirelessly to the CarPlay, and got a cigarette USB charger that I use to charge my phone.

Mine (2025 D110) has done this a few times (PIVI Pro) - a hard reset fixes it, annoying, but it takes about 3 minutes. Tons of videos, car has to be in park and you hold down the phone button on the steering wheel for about 20 secs...different button if you don't have PIVI Pro.
