Almost all OEM tires are junk these days. I'm throwing out a set of OEM Goodyears after 600 miles. I posted them here in the marketplace for free with local pickup and no takers. I replaced a set of Toyo A36 tires on my daughter's CX-5 with Michelins after 5K miles because they hydroplaned so bad. My trusted tire guy said almost all OEM tires have shallow tread so they can get a good MPG rating that prints on the sticker.

The exception to this rule is OEM performance tires. The Porsche-spec Michelin Pilot Sport 4S is lighter, has more tread, a stiffer sidewall than the standard off-the-shelf PS4S. The money that OEMs put into performance tires is insane. The Porsche-spec Pirelli Scorpions are noticeably better than off-the-shelf scorpions, as well. Same can be said for Ferrari-spec Michelins, too.

True, there are some exceptions...My Golf R came with 235/35R19 Hankook Ventus S1 summer tires that would be great if I lived where the temp never went below 40 degrees and roads were perfect without potholes. So I had to replace those with a set of 18" wheels and Michelin PS AS tires for New England driving.

The manufacturers of performance vehicles don't care about the MPG rating on a window sticker and neither do the buyers of performance vehicles.

Those are the best all-season tires you can get. My buddy runs them on his Aston Martin DB9. I was planning on getting a set for my Macan, as it is due for new tires soon, but unfortunately you cant get the Pilot Sport All Season 4 in my size, 265/45R20 and 295/40R20. It really sucks because the PSAS4 is the factory all-season tire on Macans with 21" wheels. I'll be putting a set on our Q7 this week and on the Macan I'm going for the Continental DWS06 Plus, which is the Conti equivalent of the PSAS4. Ironically, my same friend with the DB9 runs these Contis on his C8 and really likes them.

Certainly depends on the tire. Many sports cars come with super soft rubber and the tires rarely make it to 10,000 miles. I had the 20" wheels with the GY Wrangler tires from the factory. We had a blow out at 7k miles (off road catching a log with the sidewall) I then replaced all 5 wheels with 18" wheels and BFG 265/70R18's I expect to get close to 30k miles from those and I'll be happy.
