Default Mirror tap for detector?

Picking up a new 110 on Thursday and want to add a mirror tap for the Valentine One but don't find any videos on youtube...

Anyone have experience with this on a Defender? I've done it numerous times on other vehicles and just need to know which wires to use. TIA

Have you tried looking at powefuluk? There is a loom they have draw power for a dash cam. You might be able to use it for your radar detector.

I took the easy way out and used the center console power socket, then ran the wire under the dashboard, up the A-pillar, then across under the headliner to my V1. I did need 2 V1 wires and a phone line connector to cover that distance.

The V1 is an excellent detector - mine has prevented countless tickets. Mike Valentine, founder of V1 (and inventor of the radar detector) is a member of the Porsche Club of America chapter that I belong to. Has a wonderful collection including a Cayman GT4RS, GT3 Touring, 918 Spyder and more. He needs to get a Defender to add to his insane collection. He's a proper car enthusiast and a great guy to be around.

The second generation V1 is even better as it screens out most of the blind spot radar false alarms, has better radar range and it's software can be updated using an app. Nonetheless I have slowed down since we don't have a real defense against lidar any longer. I had ALP laser jammers in our previous LR4's and Audis and they worked great. But the modern laser guns have amazing range and cops now know when they are being jammed. Plus they capture your speed and license plate in one image that will be tough to argue with in court.

My V1 Gen2 is a life saver! I brought it from my BMW but it's saved my tail more than once...

I have a Mirror Tap on order, along with a V1 specific mount. I will report my results. I already have a dash cam attached up there.

I agree with you that the V1 is a great radar detector, I won't take long road trips without it, it's saved me from so many tickets. I had run a hardwired power lead from the front fusebox, up the A-Pillar and along the headliner/windshield to the V1. I didn't want to trust the suction cup V1 windshield mount and the visor clip was not optimal (ie. when I actually needed to use the sun visor to block the sun!). So I recently arrived at this mounting solution:

The Blender rear view mounts are great but I also didn't want the mount/V1/power wire hanging out there all the time.

This way, the mount can be a useful cellphone holder when not being used for the V1 and the power wiring path is pretty easy/short. Even shorter and cleaner if you get the V1 USB-C power adapter.

Blend Mount and Escort 360c. Heaviest radar detector that I have ever owned!
