I am looking to order a 2023 Defender 110 SE and seeing if any of y'all know any out-of-state dealers that have a short list for allocations or have allocations available for a new build that you would recommend. I am based in Dallas, TX, and not having any luck here and 100% willing to order from any out-of-state dealer (or in-state). Distance doesn't matter to me, a road trip after pick-up would be really fun. Feel free to DM or reply with suggestions to help out.

The real issue that you will likely face is that JLR blocks dealers from selling outside their immediate market. There are some that break this but they are few and far between.

I have definitely read that on this forum and have read of some instances (few) like you mentioned that will sell outside their market. Seeing if anyone could help make a referral/recommendation and save me time by calling lots of dealerships nationwide.

Reached out to dealer today, my delivery date has now moved out to 10/21 from 9/9. Still sitting at port

Wow that is insane! I will ask my dealer but I’m guessing I’m in a similar situation. I’m wondering if our cars are sitting waiting for parts since there have been several ships that have left the port.

Put my order in for a ‘23.5MY 130 SE on July 1st at my dealer, been in the holding pool since July 2nd I believe. Just got word 30 min ago that I got an allocation for it and the build is submitted as an actual filled order now, expected delivery date 12/16. Makes sense that they would want to push out the 130’s cuz no one has them yet.

I've been through this and actually made the calls. There are some dealers in other states that can sell in our area...FL, CA, IL and OK, as well as Houston. Every one of them are charging the market adjustment of $20k-$30k above MSRP. ParkPlace off of 114 does not, which is who I finally ordered mine from and it's on a ship now due to the dealer on Oct 7. Waited in the allocation queue from March to June 1 when the order was placed. They're one of the largest dealers so get a fair amount of allocations.

So I went back and looked at my notes from all the calling. Here are my notes from January for ones that can sell in TX
  • LR Houston Central
  • LR OK City
  • LR Omaha
  • LR Des Moines
  • Land Rover Nashville
  • LR West Houston
  • LR Tuscon
I do remember that I talked to at least 1 dealer each in FL and CA who could, just didn't write them down.

I just reached out and gave the sales person (Fort Worth) what I was looking for. As pure luck would have it- a guy backed out of his build that arrived that day. Week later, I’m driving.

I was fully prepared to order from there, so if you haven’t called them, I’d recommend them for sure. Otherwise, it seems that it is all about luck. I had the same conversations with Ford and Toyota in the last 6 months. It’s not just LR. All dealers are keeping anything they have. And yes, you sign a crap ton of paperwork about traveling out of the country and state. They protect the buy even when you are actually taking it home!
