Not sure why some are directly from Belgium and some are from Southampton. Might be related to parts availability. Who knows…
Land Rover Defenders are made at the Nitra plant in Slovakia. Those destined for the US market travel by rail typically up to Zeebrugge - that's been the first transportation delay as that railway has been under repairs. From Zeebrugge ships can go directly to the US or often stop by the UK to drop off Defenders and/or pickup up other cars for the US market, there have been delays getting in to the ports and some UK port strikes but this has not severely impacted Southampton. My delivery ship was anchored outside of Southampton, near the Isle of Wight, for 4 days before it docked. After a few more days they head West and it seems Baltimore is a common stop. They get unloaded at the port but can sit in hold pending completion, mine had the dreaded "missing Amp" and the port team would not release it to the dealer until that Amp (actually the safety pinger for various things, nothing to do with the Meridian) was installed. When they are ready they go to "load line" status for trucking, that's another potential delay depending on truck/driver availability. Transportation seems to be the longest part of the order process. Good luck with getting your cars soon.

Thanks for the detailed info. Would you be able to help with the timelines your rig faced after hitting the port in USA? Like how many days in the port for amp fix and how long it took for them to get it to the dealer? I'm told my delivery is still slated for end of the month but I'm kinda skeptical based on my research as below.

Tijuca is now anchored by Southampton port and going based on below schedule it looks like it will be be docked for loading/unloading from Oct 11th until 12th.

Once it starts sailing on 12th then I was hoping it will be between 8 to 10 days to reach Baltimore (as what my SA told me few weeks back) but going based on the previous ship (Tugela thats from the same cargo company and similar specs but not sure if these two vessels have the same nautical speed capacity though) that was carrying rovers, I see it could be between 15+ days. Tugela started sailing on Sep 9th from southampton and reached Baltimore on 25th. There is also another port (Dundalk) thats close to Baltimore and this is in the port call log. 2 days (23rd until 25) there and then Baltimore (25 to 27).

So if I go based on previous ship sailing time then Tijuca will be in Baltimore on ~25th Oct, couple of days to unload and then another couple of days to make it to the dealer. Once it reaches dealer then its a 6 hour turn around time in my case (they do a minor program check, drive 6 miles for testing basics and then a final basic prep for exterior and interior).

But I also see Tiranna had a sail time of 10 to 12 days to Baltimore - https://www.myshiptracking.com/vesse...59895000-imo-0

So still end of the month but given port situation in Baltimore and other uncertainties (given the track record) I'm keeping my fingers crossed for end of the month

Sure. 13 days in Baltimore port pending the Amp fix, they do prioritize customer ordered cars over dealer inventory. Another 11 days to get to my dealer. 2 days prep and clean before I got the call it was available for pickup. Hope that helps.

Thanks. that’s excruciatingly painful to wait knowing the rig has finally reached other side of the pond. Do you know at which point it gets invoiced? And my rig was dealer/retail stock but I put the deposit. So do you know if it will be considered dealer inventory or customer car for prioritization?

Certainly was painful especially as we had a long planned roadtrip for our wedding anniversary and I was tracking it very closely like you. Unfortunately our Defender didn't arrive in time so we had to use an alternative. For you, I would expect if you have your name on it then it will be considered a customer car and not one that is destined to sit, albeit briefly, in dealer inventory. Besides not all vehicles have a missing amp and to my understanding those amps are not a "one size fits all" deal, allegedly mine was more difficult to track down because of the spec of the car so a longer delay in my particular case.

thank you. And I’m sorry you couldn’t make the road trip in the new vehicle.

Default Finally

Finally took possession of my 110X this weekend. Ordered in December, allotment in January, arrived in Baltimore almost one month ago. Hopefully everyone else waiting on the Baltimore port to sort itself out get their’s soon as well.

Considering wrapping the top in white to twin my 85’110 in the background

great looking vehicle. Mind if I ask the reason for a month long hold @baltimore port?
