I'll keep this thread posted on resolutions in updating my software. It's very disappointing to wait 8 months, then find out it has this kind of recall that wasn't handled or mentioned pre-delivery (or before I signed purchase paperwork). Sitting in a service bay on Day 0 - welcome to the Land Rover brand I guess

I'd highly recommend anyone purchasing a new Defender that they go through every single menu, option, off-road setting, camera setting, test the sensors, and every software functionality you can think of BEFORE signing.

As I understand it, they aren't even supposed to sell a new vehicle until it has this Near Field Sensing Module (NFSM) software updated.
Thanks for the info. I wonder how long it takes to implement this update and when they fixed it at the factory? I'm waiting on my Oct 11 built truck to get on a ship and I can't watch anymore RoRos come in and out of Zeebrugge!

I know it's frustrating but you don't want to be in my shoes right now either It's really better they handle this before delivery to a customer.
Hopefully it becomes part of the routine pre-delivery software updates at the dealer or port side. I guess mine will be the guinea pig on how long it takes a dealer to handle it once it's been delivered.

Update as of this afternoon:

There seems to be a programming issue with the recent update to the Pivi software as I described early. It's now affected this dealers stock of delivered Defenders (and likely nationwide). They also claim it has "downed a few of our vehicles at this time." The cameras will just read "cameras unavailable" and none of the sensors will work. Hopefully all of this generates enough buzz to LR corporate that they fix this promptly b/c they have a lot of unhappy customers and potential customers waiting...

Seeing what happened to the sunglass holder and USB outlets they'll most likely remove the cameras and say "Chip shortage, or whatever." 😄

Ha, no kidding. I did confirm the presence of camera lenses and sensors before I left. It's sad anyone has to even consider this on a $100k vehicle.

The ClearSight mirror did work, so that's a plus?

UPDATE (11/9): I spoke with every dealer in my state, and this software recall is indeed affecting all incoming Defenders (ported or delivered to dealer vehicles). If you're waiting on a vehicle, this is adding to your delay. From the sound of it, there are many technical assistance (TA) cases open across dealerships to get this resolved, since it is preventing dealers from even selling a Defender to a customer (or should prevent, in my case) as there are major features not working at all. My vehicle is currently "unprogrammable at this time." I'm hoping that with the ever readjusting car markets and loan interest in the rise, they get this resolved. Dealers might soon miss out on sweet sweet MSRP mark-ups if they don't hurry in resolution to time this market

Darn, might be time to come to terms with this being another Land Rover in terms of (electronic, at least) reliability.

Anyone who picked up recently, do you guys have the clearsight mirror? Mine has got 3 buttons below the mirror and clicking on them simply throws a orange blinking light and nothing more happens.
