I agree, its shocking how few dealer stock vehicles are coming in in these two colors. Like 90% of trucks trickling in for months and months now around here (New England) are the grayscale colors.
They might just be safe colors for customers. I love the fact these two colors are rare. These colors also really bring forward the beautiful Defender design language. The Tasman also has a military-esque look and feel to it, making it so bad ***. It also changes depending on the lighting, like a gray-blue. The Green is all adventure, so rain forest or safari. These colors tell a story.
Here’s some WWII planes that have this type of blue.
Except for the fact that looks like a modern color photo, that could be my dad in the cockpit of that SBD. Flew them in the Pacific in late-44 and 45, after things had cooled off a bit.
This is for sale a couple miles from me in Atlanta; saw it earlier this week. $59k.

Indeed!
Tasman blue and Pangea green are the two colors that have the “heritage” factor, except that i wish they actually use “Aries blue” and “pastel green”.
I also echo your point on the military reference, Tasman blue reminds me of Audi’s “aviator gray” which i thought was an amazing color particularly on the 1st generation TT hardtop.
as you said, the hue of Tasman blue changes depending on the lighting condition, from blue to grayish blue to blueish gray to gray and anywhere in between. It’s gorgeous!

That color TT is what caused me to jump on a Wrangler when they first offered Anvil in 2014. I mean, I was loosely planning to get a JK, but Anvil pushed me to move quickly.
