l wondered where all those 83 microprocessors were, now l know.

lts all new to me, l came from an old Defender that had no tech at all.

Left your lights on? Tough, it wouldn't tell you. Seat belt not on? No worries, up to you

Door open while reversing? Carry on, Vehicle never even notices.

Not seen that lamp post or sports car while reversing? You will know it's there in a few seconds

There is a section of the workshop manual where it ties the HVAC (why?) with the drive modes, the 50x per second (I think) monitoring of the shock travel and pressure, the rear diff, and I just stopped reading after that.

It's like this:

I use a seat belt buckle alarm stopper clip to disable the seatbelt chimes when I don't need/want to wear it (in my farm field, light off-road, checking the mailbox...I have a long *** hilly driveway)

Below is an example of what I use.

Problem with all these monitoring nanny systems. Rivian getting towed thinks the driver left the seat so it locks itself up mid-tow and self-destructs.

Friendly reminder to read the towing instructions before it happens to you.

Thanks for the information dump about the various monitoring systems. How you have the wherewithal and patience to dig up all that info is on another level, but reading the explanation further reinforces the absolute unnecessary need to ‘trick’ the seatbelt to allow one NOT to wear it. To each his own, but the simple act of buckling a seatbelt takes such little effort or brain strain that I will continue that minor inconvenience to my life in order to prolong it. After nearly 30 years as a Firefighter/EMT, retiring as a Battalion Chief I can attest to the effectiveness of the lowly seatbelt. Have picked up many bodies and body parts from the woods and side of the road, but have never unbuckled a dead person from one. Oh, and that split second touch of the Auto/Stop/Start button that is located an incredibly short distance from my driving position is not enough of a distraction to my life to make me explore devious ways to defeat it. The actual effort involved in buckling and unbuckling the seat belt numerous times is way more involved and time consuming than pressing the button in the first place. I’ll live with it. And the seat belt will help me live longer.

I can not agree with you more on the seatbelt. I watched an SUV rollover on the opposite side of the highway and two kids who were not wearing seat belts got ejected out the sunroof. Nothing prepares you for that and nothing takes it away.
