Well, after lurking here awhile, watching YouTube videos, etc., I took the leap, plunked my money down and ordered a MY23 Defender 90S today: https://build.landrover/91560244
This will be my fourth LR product, having previously owned a '70 SIIA, an '83 Range Rover (4sp manual gearbox), and a 2003 Disco II. I aimed to keep my build to match the old SIIA in looks. Tasmin Blue in person looks pretty close to the old Marine Blue. I would have preferred the steelies in Limestone instead of Fuji White, but I guess they can be repainted one of these days.
The sales person indicated that the wheelarch protectors and mudflaps are now being installed at the factory, so I added them to the order. He claimed delivery might be early in 2022, so I will keep my fingers crossed.
I also have a MY22 Bronco, 2 dr. Big Bend, on order. I originally reserved it back in 2020 as the D90 was not yet available. Lord knows when that will be built, from the Bronco forums I may have a long wait. In any event if it comes first, great I will take delivery and flip it when the LR arrives.
Attached is a photo taken in 1993 of me in the Series IIA. It is an old Polaroid so the colors are slightly off. With the canvas top it was like driving around in an Army surplus tent! Very cool when the sides were all rolled up. It was my daily driver for several years. A real deathtrap by modern standards, but I restored it and loved it.
