Needing another windshield, any new and improved options out there?
I am needing another windshield, any new and improved options out there?
This will be the 3rd windshield going in it since new and it is a 2023 with 6500 miles on it.
I even did the Madico protection film on this last one and still didn't save it.
Windshield Protection Film | Madico, Inc.
I am in hopes after all the complaints there have been on this subject, that maybe LR or some glass company has come up with a better solution then simply replacing these things a every few thousand miles.
I suppose on the other hand the glass companies like that get to bend us over every few months for couple grand. So maybe no one is working on a better windshield??????
Just curious if anyone has seen any better options than the OE glass I have been getting.

That is an insane amount of windshields in a small amount of time. How close to you follow people to do that?
I live in a state that puts all kinds of rock salt and sand (which gets gravel in it) and we've put over 13k miles on our Defender in a year and not had a single chip in the windshield. Likewise my two other vehicles have much more vertical windshields than the Defender and in over 10 years, I've only gotten a small chip on the FJ's windshield that was fixable with a DIY resin repair.
This also includes driving in groups on the logging roads where gravel is getting flung up everywhere.

I was very aware to stay away from other traffic.
I have 5 other vehicles and not having any issues with glass breakage on them.
Until I got this Defender, I have not had a broken windshield of anything I was driving in well over a decade.
In fairness my 90 was demo and dealer bought the first glass, it was chipped when I received the car and I found evidence in their add pictures that the chip was in it when they sold it to me, so the dealer bought that one.
Now with this latest break, when I was driving it, I was at least 10-15 car lengths away from the nearest small car in front of me, there was a semi a ways front of them, I was on a 4 lane interstate highway and in my area the speed limits are 75 and 80 mph, so I am sure at those speeds the flying rocks have a bit more bight to them.
I knew going in that these more vertically positioned windshields were more prone to breakage, I had a Jeep Commander many years ago that had a similar issue with frequent glass breakage.
When I had my Bronco, I had its windshield coated with the protective film and never had any issues with it.
As soon as the dealer got the windshield in my 90 replaced, back when I first got it, I had it coated with the protective film as well thinking that was likely what had saved the Bronco's windshield on a few occasions, in the past 2 years of owning that, Bronco.
It seems to me maybe they could use a bit thicker or better made glass.
