You can get the 1" smaller lift and run 275-55-20, but 18" wheels only work on the smaller engine models.

The lift kit doesn't require the hideous bull bar / bumper mod in that picture, right?

I'm working to upgrade my factory tires. Please let me know if my summary below is not accurate, but for us 18" wheel owners willing to install lift rods but not go as far as trimming, the options for bigger and wider tires don't appear to be great.

Optional lift rods:
  • 275/65/R18 (32.08")
  • 265/70/R18 (32.60")
1.5" lift rods:
  • 285/65/R18 (32.58") - multiple reports in the forums of rubbing
  • 275/70/R18 (33.16") - multiple reports in the forums of rubbing
I'd love to learn otherwise, but the options don't seem to expand much with lift rods. It seems the 275/60/R20 (33.0")+1.5" lift might be the sweet spot for this vehicle, even though you get a shorter sidewall than the 18's.

Most folks I'm seeing here have the 1.5. I get it if you're gonna do it may as well do the thing properly.

I am not trying to get too much higher. but want the clearance to run 285/50/22's (as opposed to 285/45/22). I'm wondering if anyone has done 33's (or ever so slightly taller) with just the 1" rods? If so. Pics?

I saw a note from Johnson at the beginning of the thread about 1.5" being better ride quality. Do folks actually find that? I ran my L322 with 1" air lift but the ride was definitely worse.

Default Wheel Size and Offset?

Looking for wheel specs: wheel brand, wheel width, and offset on this mod. Thanks

Basic question I hope to clarify. Do lift rods increase the height of the vehicle not just in Access and Normal heights, but Off-road height also? In other words, if I have 1” lift rods installed, am I getting an additional 1” in off-road height or does off-road height stay the same, regardless of lift rods? Thanks for the clarification.

Default Lift Rod

The 1” lift rods would raise the vehicle 1” in all modes of travel for the airbag suspension. This is to include the off road height. Hope this helps.

Lift rods are hardware pieces that increase the vehicle's height regardless of ride height.
