I have a new defender, have 19in rims with the Wrangler All Terrain Adventures on them (31in). The dealer was listing off a bunch of options to modify my vehicle and he mentioned putting the johnson rods in. My question is, would they look funny (too much space) given every picture in this forum has rods installed with either 20in or 22in rims with much larger tires?
On the Johnson Rods website I looked up the tires and and it says "no lift required" for my specs. Maybe I should hold off till I get larger rims and tires?
The 19 inch wheels should have a 255-65-19 mounted which is 32 inches.
You can definitely use the lift and it will look just fine. There are not any larger tires in 19.
If you go to a 20 inch wheel you can run 275-60-20 which is 33 inches.
Here is a Defender with stock wheels and the lift in off road mode.
Normal mode would be just 1.5 inches higher than yours sits now. It will look good. Stock 32's in off road mode. 1.5 inch lift
will the 275/55R20 goodyear duratracs fit without lift? They are still a 32" tire, but have the extra width of the 33" 275/60R20. I haven't seen many examples of people using this size, but it is listed on the goodyear website. Everyone seems to go with the 275/60R20's with lift, or the 255/60R20 without.
