I just traded my Velar SV for a V8 Defender 110, it was a cancelled order from a previous customer. The vehicle is loaded but I noticed in the PiviPro menu under connectivity there is no hotspot option so I'm assuming the person who had initially ordered it didn't option it assuming it was included it the Online connectivity pack. Is there any hardware required or can this be activated after the fact at the dealer and paying them for the service. I asked my dealer and they were sure and had to email JLR NA to find out but no one has responded back to their request. Anyone here have any luck? My Velar had it stock with a physical SIM card. Pop it in and the option appeared.
There's no physical SIM card on a NAS (North America) Defender, it's all eSim.
Do you have the window sticker? That would pretty clearly say whether or not it has the wifi hotspot. (which I do believe is a separate option...)
Unfortunately I do not have the window sticker but the service advisor said if the hotspot option isn’t appearing it most likely wasn’t optioned. I was wondering if it’s something that can be added via software or a specific activation after the fact. Like my wife drives a 2023 Tiguan and when I log in to her app it gives me the option to pay and activate. I don’t see that in the Defender interface
They don't have it as an upgrade (as I believe the "hot spot" isn't fitted if not optioned). There is a guy on here in SoCal that can retro fit it and there are companies in UK that can retro fit it as well though, but new hardware and coding is definitely involved. And then not sure how you'd get the subscription thru JLR though.
From a web browser -- not the app -- go to "subscriptions" and if you have the bottom one, you (at least in theory) have in-car wifi.
"Wi-Fi Enabled with Data Plan" (the one at the bottom), is the in-car wifi hotspot

definitely don’t see the last option so guess it’s not fitted. Maybe better to get a nighthawk 5G with an unlimited subscription. Don’t think anyone here in Toronto can Retrofit but who knows. Thanks for the help.
Hotspot typically can be retrofitted via ccf edit. all hardware is there, just need to activate. Dealership will typically not do this. The newer 23 and 23.5 vehicles can be hit and miss with activations. the only way to know is to have someone try to unlock it.
