There aren't any speakers in the seat. The seat has vibrators in it, allowing for haptic feedback within the seat so you can "feel" the music. The OCTA has the same 15-speaker, 700-watt Meridian Surround Sound system used in lower trim levels.I didn't care for it when I experienced it in the OCTA at Goodwood. I think Mercedes and BMW do a better job with 4D sound. The RRS SV has this feature, as well as additional speakers in the seat.

splitting hairs but okay - it has ‘vibrators’ in the seat which are essentially subwoofers, which are in turn, speakers.

Octa has a 29 speaker 1430w system, the regular Meridian Surround system is 15 speakers at 700w. I thought it sounded great but that’s just my opinion.

OCTA doesn't have the Meridian Signature system - that is only available on the RR, RRS and Velar. It was also available on the old Jaguar XJ. I was also under the impression that the OCTA had additional speakers, but after experiencing it and talking with the engineers and press officers at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, they confirmed that with the exception of the seat transducers, it is the same 700-watt system used in the Defender and other JLR products.

The OCTA has four transducers in each front seat. The transducer vibrators aren't exactly subwoofers. They are similar to subwoofers in the sense that they amplify lower frequencies, but the transducers don't emit any sound, just vibration. They pulse the seat to the beat of the music, so you can "feel" the music, as well as providing massage features and "wellness" features to reduce fatigue while driving. I 100% agree, it sounds fantastic. All of the Meridian systems are pretty good IMO.

The transducers are manufactured by a company called Subpac, which produces a device that provides tactile feedback to audio. Subpac has been endorsed by many well-known producers, including Timbaland.

Thanks for the confirmation - I read online last night (LR article) that it was getting the 29 speaker system but clearly that must have changed.

Either way, I liked the sound and feel of the system when I sat in both editions at the Brooklyn launch event in May. I’ve been a drummer for 35 years and have a drum seat that has a similar technology where the seat is plugged into the PA system and it makes a huge difference to my playing - not saying this is relevant to driving a car but feeling and hearing the music is a much improved experience in my opinion. If you don't care about your audio experience then fine ‘it’s a gimmick’, otherwise I think it’s a great addition to the build. I’m counting down the days to Feb 2025 for delivery.

Current:
2023 Defender P400X - Carpathian Grey with Khaki Resist.
2016 LR4 Landmark - Santorini Black with Light Tan.
2023 Mini Clubman JCW - Midnight Black II with Malt Brown Chesterfield Leather.

Past:
2021 Defender P400SE - Carpathian Grey with Ebony/ Leather/Cloth.

Two LHD OCTA’s are in Brisbane LR at the moment! Here are some notable features that I noticed for the first time looking in person:
Cut out for bigger tyre in rear bumper

Micro SD card slot in centre storage area (upside down photo for some reason)

Carpet mat in boot

Misc parts that are slightly restyled:

… and some ‘mechanical’ photos

Rest of my photos aren’t really that special and I can’t be bothered to go through all of them to make sure I don’t show myself in the reflection off the paint 🫠
I’m also hesitant to upload my photos of the vin(s)

That's probably one of the same prototypes that was on display at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. They only have a few prototypes that they send around the world.

Here's the VIN on the one that was on display at the JLR tent at Goodwood. Doesn't matter if you post it because this prototype will be crushed unless JLR keeps it at their Classic Center, where they have kept L663 & L405 development prototypes, the Range Stormer concept that previewed the RRS from 2004, the CX-75 concept and the stunt vehicle from the 007 Spectre film, original press cars and so much more. That is a place that would be so cool to visit.

Does the "gold" bit come off the front recovery loop, so it is useful? Or has it become a for show part now?

I was told by the PR people at Goodwood that the production car will have a Phosphor Bronze-colored front recovery point and not a cover like it is on these prototypes.
