Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/T
I was set on the Nitto Recon Grappler but they are just a little too tamed... I have seen a couple of P/Us and a Defender with them on and while I know it is a fantastic tire, it looks meh.
I saw the Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/T on a Jeep yesterday and they looked... well, Boss!
Looking at the tech specs, the 275/55 20 Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/T is 32.2" overall tire height. The OEM Goodyear is 31.9", I don't think 1/3" would be a problem.
Has anyone seen them on a Defender with 20" wheels? or had a real world experience with them on a daily driver?
I know the Recon Grappler would be a much nicer ride on the pavement (which is 85% of my driving) but there is something to be said about the brute look of the M/T

275/60 20 will be an inch larger in diameter than 275/55 20 (31.9 vs. 33). A non lifted Defender would have tire rubbing issues.
Here is a neat calculator of tire/wheel size - Tire size calculator.
Based on the information in this thread, you are better off with a 275/55 20, if you do not want to modify you Defender. You only gain 1/2" in actual sidewall size with 275/60 20, but a full inch in diameter. in comparison 275/55 20 has a 6" sidewall which is the same as the OEM size of 255/60 20.
Another option is 265/55 20, that will be only 1/2" larger in diameter but will give you 1/3" larger sidewall. But still, most likely rub in some condition (reverse, access mode, full steering etc.)

@Jrunr619 - Hope this helps. Haven't updated it in a while, but it will get you a feel for what you want. Everything shifts if you change the wheels. So, focus on the tires. Also, @DEFENDER2020 gave you gold with the link. There are others, but they work well. You DON'T want to get out of the JLR sizes very much. Just another testimonial....
I can confirm that 265/70R18 on an 18x8 ET 29.0 wheel (TuffAnt Kimberley) will not rub and gives a nice margin around the wheel when things get muddy on a stock suspension. This size is both a half inch taller and wider than stock.
(FYI - went with Vredestein Pinza AT since 95% of the time I'm on highway and I wanted something quiet with superior dry and wet traction. Not a great mudder, but that's the compromise I chose.)

20x9 Ravines + BFG KO2 175/55 R20 - slight rubbing
Great thread, lots of info to sift through.
Picked up my X a few weeks ago. Did my best to do my research, talked to many wheel companies and local installers. It's a bit of a wasteland out there for after market Defender wheels - most of the 20" models I like and are strong off-road selections are discontinued at this point. The Alstons, Chase, etc - either can't get them or can't get them in the style I want. So, I chose the Black Rhino Ravines (20x9 ET12) with BFG AT KO2 275/55 R20's. Wheel Pro's (Black Rhino's sales and tech group) gave me the thumbs up, and a new SKU that wasn't on their web page and which they said was for the Defender. Sadly, the front tires still rub on the front of the wheel hub at full turn - And almost touch on the back of the wheel hub. It's enough to do slight rub damage and hear it on sharp slow turns and in reverse turns. They rub in up and down positions. I'm guessing it's the ET12 that's at issue with these wheels? Any confirmation would be helpful.
I'm looking at the Project Kahn Mondial or RS's now - Anyone tried either of them? Their ET is 30 so I'm thinking that might fix it with the same rubber. Also the Fuel Warp has a 30 offset - anyone tried those?
At this point I'm just looking for some experienced advice in trouble shooting this so I can bring this part of the adventure to a close - it's so close to fitting, maybe there's a small fix? Try a different tire? 265's? Swap wheels? Does going from a ET12 to ET30 make the difference with a small rub?
What off-road wheels are even available that people are using these days?
