I fitted 275 65 R18’s to my D240 using Compromotives wheels. No touching and lots of space

hope this helps someone

I've been down in the weeds with tire specs of late.

Rotating the OEM Wrangler Adventures on their dumb 20" alloys this evening I figured I'd see how heavy they were.

77lbs if anyone is interested ( 39 lb alloy + 38 lb tire. )

A whole lot of weight in these big dumb city-alloys.

With 18" alloys, the beefiest 32.5" tire I've looked at is a 61lbs mud-terrain (General Grabber X3). I'm getting alloys that weigh 30lbs so not a huge increase in unsprung mass even if this heavy duty option is chosen. Going with an KO2 in the OEM size and there is just a 4lb increase in weight to 81lbs.

I didn't have a scientific scale (used my wife's bathroom scale), but my stats were:

75.4# for the OEM Wheel & Tire. 20" Style 5098, 5 spoke, Satin Dark Grey rims + 255/60 R20 Goodyear Wrangler AT Adventure
87.6# for the 18" Evo Corse DakarZero in Matt Black + LT285/60 R18 (E1) Nitto Ridge Grapplers

I didn't weigh them separately but I suspect most of that is in the tires, not the wheels - but I don't know.

Bathroom scale here too.

I got the tire weight from the online specs and just weighed the whole thing.

Those are a ~58lb tire so about 30lbs for the alloy . Seem like a great rim/tire combo

@Mcdooogs

Sorry to pick your brains again on the Grabber X3 but wanted to ask if you were happy with them overall from a ride comfort and noise point of view. Have you noticed any appreciable hit in fuel economy with them on. Any other things of note going to the bigger heavier MT?

My Tuffants arrive this week and I'm hoping to make the tire change in the coming weeks if I can get the lead out. Grabber X3 or BFG KO2 in the same 265/70 size. My brain is saying the A/T is the wiser choice but I can't help but feel I'll be wishing for a M/T at some point when things get sloppy and I'm stuck.

The MT are definitely heavier and louder than the stock AT, cannot lie there. However, with the roof rack and side ladder, the tire noise doesn’t actually stand out in regular driving especially over 60mph highway driving. The ‘wub-wub’ of the bigger MT lugs is rly only noticeable at lower speeds with windows down (rare for me, i like AC and loudish music when i drive).

i definitely recommend with either choice you run them at appropriate psi for the load you are using. That, plus the nature of the air suspension will keep the rode comfortable. Definitely don’t go filling up 10-ply E tires to max lol

i had the x3s mounted in Moab, so I drove them back from Moab to Rhode Island. Mph isn’t something i pay close attention to, it was well under 20mpg both directions (oem tires on the trip to utah). Probably took a hit, but i’d wager the diff between x3 MT and ko2 AT is minimal. Certainly less different than the oem vs MTs. The ko2s are probably not much lighter after all, just a tad less rolling resistance.

i’d say if you have a roof rack and/or accessories hanging off the sides, and want to maximize offroad grip, go with the beefier lugs.

I'm sure you meant "mpg" not "mph" - I did that drive twice - once in '88 (Montana to Massachusetts) and once in 2013 (Utah to Virginia), and if I had gone 20 mph, I'd still be waiting to finish the first trip...
