previous customer put 275 60 20 cooper at3 no lift, no rubbing, this is a 33" tire

Default 19" Inch Good Year Wrangler Duratrac on P400

This video shows good off-road use of the Good Year Wrangler Duratrac tires. These tires work well on stock Defenders, even P400, with no lift, on all Land Rover wheels, including 19" wheels with no caliper changes needed. This is one of the launch adventure press drive-along tours in Namibia. Pretty cool stuff. Go to 10:50 and 11:07 and 11:37 and 24:11on the video for close-up views of the tire in action. Tire also protects the wheel.

I don't work for Land Rover or Good Year, but have driven a bit off road over the years - Range Rovers, JK Rubicon, old Discovery and new Defenders. Best tire I've seen on the trail is BF Goodrich KM3. It's loud on the road, though. The Good Years are great for new Defenders on and off road. I like all the treads you all are sharing on this thread. The Coopers, Nittos, MTs, etc. And, thanks for the fit guide. Good forum!

Question: Love the KO2 look, and sorry they don't fit correctly. I've seen many pics on this site that do show beefy tires close (but no rubbing). So my questions is this: even if you didn't rub the KO2 tire to the wheel arch, even if there were an inch of space, isn't that still a risk if you're on the highway, doing 80 mph, and then run over something? This is the "stuff flies out of the F-150" problem - rare for sure, but I do imagine too much tire spinning fast in too small of a wheel arch is a hazard, and wondering where the line is or how you'd know ahead of time? Personally, I'd love to see JLR acknowledge the problem and sell a Defender trim with 18" rims + KO2s right on there from the factory - it would certainly meet the needs of some.

New Defender 110x owner. After a few weeks, I switched out the stock Continental tires (275/45R22) for Toyo Open Country AT3's in 285/45R22 (H speed rated and A Traction + A Temp rated.) The Toyo's fit great, no issues, and ride and handling is much improved with no increase in road noise over stock street tires. I cannot say enough about the Toyo AT3's -they are 3 peak snow rated with great water/ wet traction, as well as decent off road performance (dirt and sand, no heavy rock climbing.) I have had the the AT3's on my dedicated off road rig (a V8 Gen 4 4Runner that is fully armoured and 4" Icon lift) and cannot say enough about their on road and off road performance. I know local Defender owners who have used Nitto Grapplers and they have much more road noise and are not as high rated for traction, temp. and snow handling. Thought I would share my experience for those who want a better performing and more aggressive tire for street and snow with some light off road use while keeping the look of the Defender 22" fancy rims.

You read my mind. Can you send a couple more pics? So, no lift rods? OEM suspension, right? 285s fit ok with no lift. Have you tried the Toyos Open Country RT Trail? TIA

No rubbing with 285/45 Toyos. The Defender is a brand new stock 2024 110x – no modifications at all.

Researching here and on other forums I think the key fact is while the Toyos are slightly wider (1-2cm or so from the stock 275/45’s it came with, I stayed with a 45 sidewall, and did not go up to 50 or greater, that is where I believe potential rubbing on the interior wheel well / frame could occur.

Thanks. You are correct. So long as you stick with the 45s there should be no issues with 285s. I might try the Toyo OC RT Trail though. They seem to be the new sweet spot between an ATs and MTs.

Just picked up this 24 110X, swapped wheels and tires immediately. I fit 275/60/20 Cooper AT3 XLT's on, slight rub on reverse turning but very minimal. I don't ever have it in access mode though. Might take a heat gun and bend the fender liner back a little but it's not much of an issue. Overall I really like the tire, I've only ever had Wildpeak's before

Failken Wildpeak AT4W 275/20/55 - Love them! I tried the Wildpeak R/T on a long road trip and loved for offroad but there was more noise than I wanted between 40 and 50mph. Exchanged for the new AT4 and just a great tire. D rated so good load rating and sidewalls. Car feels planted, nimble and just great. Off road in a muddy field didn't miss a beat.
