No Power Steering untill removed Neg terminal of battery for 20 seconds.
Started Defender the other day and noticed I had no power steering. Turned car off and on again but no change.
called dealer to get advice on what it could be, but they told me to bring it in. I declined.
I took it to YouTube and saw a video explaining to take off the negative terminal of the battery for about 20-30 seconds and then reconnect and start vehicle.
I did and it worked. I have power steering again
The video also said it may mean that I need a software update. not sure if that's true or not.
Any ideas? why this happened? What it means?
I would hate for the wife to have this happen when she takes the defender shopping.

This was a very common problem years ago. My wife was an expert at moving up the passenger seat, access the battery and disconnect the negative terminal for a few minutes to bring the power steering back to life. But I think various software updates have made this problem nearly extinct. Make sure your software is up to date. If the OTA update fails like it does at my house, turn off cellular data and connect the Defender to your home WiFi before installing the software update.
