Default Noise coming from dash or doors

I was driving yesterday on the freeway and I started hearing a ticking sound like something rattling in either the driver door or in the dash. I muted the radio and I could still hear the noise. I’m not sure if it’s feedback or if it’s from the HVAC.

When I got to my destination, I turned off the truck, went in and did what I needed to do. When I got back in my truck the PIVI head unit took a long time to boot up, about a minute and a half to two minutes until the display came up fully. Then the noise started up again. I’m not sure if the delayed boot up of the PIVI is related to the noise.

Tonight I was driving running an errand and I heard the noise again. When I turned off the truck and got out, I could still hear the noise. The radio was off and the HVAC was off as well but I could still hear this noise. I’m not sure what it is.

I searched the forum and saw the post about the speaker grill feedback or something like that. I’m not sure if this is that same noise. It’s almost like a ticking sound which makes me sometimes think it might be the HVAC and when I mute the PIVI, I can still hear the noise.

Does anyone have any idea what it might be?

Is your climate control on when you hear the noise you are referring to? Turn the climate control off and see if the noise goes away.

Last night when I got to Walgreens after I turned off the truck I could still hear it. The driver door was as open and I was getting out and I could still hear it. If I hear it again today while driving I’ll turn off the radio and the hvac and see if I still hear it.

My Defender has been great up until now. Not one single issue. I sure hope it’s something easy to fix.

Take a look at this thread: https://landroverforums.com/forum/20...-sound-123583/

Scroll down to post #6 and listen to the file. If you are hearing the same sound, it is the dashboard. See my responses on that thread for the fix. Hope this helps!
