To those that think we Octa owners are driving in Beverly Hill and are not enthusiasts........sorry to disappoint but we have the same affliction as many on the forum. Taking my time to drive and evaluate the new addition. It's a beast. Fast, quiet, handles beautifully. It feels like a RRS SC that can do anything. I'm watching Justin at Lucky8 carefully to see how he did his rock sliders and other protection.
This is on my 2nd trip to La Ventana on the sea of Cortez.
Love it. Fell owner of a Disco 3 and 4 and eagerly awaiting the Octa (mine at port now.) What color is the matte grey one, Charente?
Also did you drive all the way down to Las Ventanas in Cabo??
Yes, fabulous drive. Done it twice now. Crossed at Mexicali and down to Guerrero Negro for the 1st leg. Guerrero Negro to Loretto the 2nd and then Loretto to La Ventana for the final leg. It really is a bit of a crime to do it so quickly. There are so many great places along the way. On the way back last time, I left La Ventana at 7am (had to say goodbye to the crew at the coffee shop that opened at 7) and then drove right through to the Walmart parking lot in Calexico - I would never drive in Southern Baja at night but Northern on the 5 is ok. I'm not sure I will take the Octa next time. Going to take the LR3.

For those that have the Octa, how are the seats?
I do a lot of long drives in my Defender and I wonder if the more sporty seats will get uncomfortable.

Not an OCTA owner, but I've had seat time in the OCTA (no pun intended). My Defender has the 12-way semi-powered front seats, and the sport seats in the OCTA are just as firm, but supportive as my 12-way seats. The sport seats have more aggressive bolstering, but you still have plenty of room to move around and they are easy to find a comfortable setting. The bolsters are not nearly as aggressive as the bolsters in my Porsche Macan S with the 18-way sports seats. The SUPBAC transducers that vibrate the seat to the music you're listening to is neat, but I personally don't care for it. However, the transducers offer a massage setting that I found to be effective, as well as they are scientifically proven to reduce anxiety. I was able to experience the seats at the Goodwood Festival of Speed last year, and I also had the chance to play around with these seats this past Saturday at the Defender Kentucky 3-Day Event. So my opinion just amounts to ~an hour of playing around in the OCTA. However, based on that, I don't think they'd be worse on a long journey.
