Just out of curiosity, what tires did LR use on the Defenders when doing the Africa press events? They did some fairly challenging sections, the one rocky pass (forgetting the name) in particular. In now they used both P300 and 400 models some of the Defenders would have been using 20” wheels.

Based on this article (and these photo specifically), they appear to be Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs. This photo shows the Goodyear name clearly.

And this photo shows the tread pattern that appears to match the Duratrac.

Default I went with the Toyos

So far the tires have been great on dry and wet hwy but pretty poor in snow. Looking to get rid of them before next winter. I'm looking for the best year-round tire for this area specifically. I don't do a ton of off-road driving, except dirt forest service roads summer and winter. Don't want to sacrifice too much fuel economy or hwy comfort and definitely want the 3peak rating. Had Toyo Open Country AT2s on previous rig and didn't ever need dedicated snows. They were pretty quiet on the hwy, decent for light off-road and good in snow. Discovery owner friend has BFG KO2s, and loves them, but they don't have a great rating for wet hwy, which is 80-90% of my driving in PNW.

I am not adding Johnson Rods, mainly because vehicle is already too tall for some parking garages even without a rack on top, and it definitely handles better on the hwy at Comfort Mode height. In 275/55/20 I'm looking at General Grabber A/TX, Cooper Discoverer A/T3, BFG A/T KO2, Toyo Open Country A/T3, Pirelli Scorpion A/T Plus.
Just a quick update: I went with the Toyo AT3s in 275/55/20. I've posted to the No-Lift Tire Size thread with a couple initial pics. Loving them so far, but not enough miles or weather to have a valuable review.

Let us know how those do in snow. They should be better than the non 3 peak Adventures, but not as good as dedicated snows, especially on ice. Hope they work out for you.

Here you go. 275/55/20 Toyo AT3s. Really like how the Defender drives with them on. Like how they look too. They're a little beefier than the Good Year Adventures. Have now driven in heavy rain, and very slippery roads around here when we got the first rain in months... and I'm very happy with wet and dry traction. Fuel economy seems unchanged from the OE Adventures. A couple more months and I'll have something to post about snow traction.

Those Toyo's look nice, any rubbing in the wheel well liners at full lock in any height?

PS: Turn your "Land Rover" center cap on the spare so its level and horizontal with the ground, its killing me...can you tell how OCD I am LOL

DefXBill - those MT Baja Boss's are the boss off road. Strong sidewall. Similar to Nitto Trail Grappler. Have run both on my rock crawler. Curious how the MT's are on the road - particularly since they are an LT tire with stronger sidewalls and open tread I'd guess they are louder and a giving up a bit of ride quality? The Jeep is a trailer-queen so really can't judge how they are on pavement.
