Hi - has anyone figured out how to open the tailgate from inside the vehicle? I'm thinking about the "sleeping in the back" use case. I can of course use the side doors, but the rear tailgate would be handy. Using the remote only unlocks but does not unlatch. I could not find a button or handle inside the vehicle.
I wonder the same thing. I’ve got both sides of the rear seat down which makes it a little tougher getting into and out of with a place to remove my boots before getting into my sleeping bag.
There is no way to get out as far as I can tell. I got stuck in there myself when "testing" the sleeping situation (spoiler alert: if you are taller than 6 ft, good luck with that in a 110 - you can sorta-kinda fit sideways if you bend your knees a little, but you're really much better off pitching a tent instead...) and using the side rear doors to get out is no picnic when the rear seats are flattened.

i rather thought that height thing was the case. At 2m, I suspect I am hosed for sleeping in the back!
I have spent about ten nights in the Defender. I'm 5' 11" and I can't quite stretch out all the way. If I could fill in the space between the front seat and where the back seats fold down, I would be able to fully stretch out straight.
To the original point of the thread, I wish there were a way to open the back door from inside. Climbing out the side door to pee in the middle of the night isn't ideal, but it's workable.
I do like the inside height as it feels plenty roomy when seated in the back.
