Over Air Update for Air Compressor Question- E4 Error Code
Hello, My dealer recently installed the onboard air compressor and I went to use it for the first time and it threw an E4 error. I am now on the road and soon headed to Moab where I will need the compressor. As you know most service centers are 1-2 weeks out even for something small like this I am being told. So, I am trying to understand if this is something I could do myself? It looks like you need a service account? Curious if anyone has successfully done something like this on their own.
Same deal w repeated E4 code on mine for most of 2022 ... what I will say is that the software update referenced in that bulletin did fix the problem. Mine was throwing E4 code every time I used it.
It's a bit annoying because they should just let us update it ourselves.... But, the dealership has to update it via a mobile phone (it's not OTA for consumers, and it's not via standard JLR software update procedures) with a login. My dealer had never heard of "updating anything on the car via mobile phone app" but I gave them a copy of the TSB too. It took them a few days and they had to open a case with JLR technical support. Once they figured it out though, seemed to go fine.
I was not successful at getting a login to do it myself, I pressed it quite hard w/ the service manager.
BTW, quick fix if it's happening to you. Reboot the compressor by holding the main button down for 5-10 seconds, it'll reboot. I was always able to get mine working again at least for a while by doing that when I did need air trailside.

Awesome thanks for the reboot tip, I will give that a shot. I'm annoyed that the dealer put it in without making sure it was on the latest software, although not surprising.
I had a problem in Arizona and I just went to the nearest dealer just before they opened up in the morning. I was taken in and had a ladder replaced in about 2 hours. So just show up very early and I think it will go good. Just remember not your local dealer an out of town one. Let them know you are traveling and really need this done. Good luck

This worked for me when I drove my Defender cross country. Car had a vibration I could feel in the steering wheel. The LR dealer in Ashville, NC took the car in the same day I called (close to closing time in fact). Told them I was driving cross country. Those guys were great. Super efficient, they had the car back to me the next day before noon with the problem solved.
Yes, I was able to get in. They ran the update and it was still doing the same thing. Would fill for a few seconds then say 0 PSI and then give an E4 error. I think they are going to try to change the fuse now since it seems that sometimes fixed the issue.
Didn't work they didn't have time to change the fuse or mess with anything else. Looks like I will have to just get Austin to look at it when I get back.
