In the last 2000 miles, my Defender has had two instances where the engine shut off at idle speeds. Once today when coming to a stop, another instance while my wife was driving and she had been stopped at a light for a couple of minutes. Auto Start/Stop disabled via Gap Tool, so it was not that. It also went into limp mode right aterward, to what felt like 20% max throttle and would not rev over 3000RPM.
Went to scan it and it looks like it might be a fuel pressure or fuel pressure sensor issue? Has anyone else run into this? I have a trip to the dealer scheduled for a month out from now (!!, that apparently is the earliest these cars can be serviced in the Denver area right now). I haven't tried driving it yet to see if restarting cures the limp mode as I was close to home when this happened.
That’s the plan but also good to get the info out there as these cars are starting to come out of warranty and many of us here intend to DIY future repairs.
The P525 engine has been out for a good while and used on many LR platforms. Based on your findings, it is highly likely you will get a new fuel pressure sensor. They do go out but yours is too new for it to go out so soon. With your LR being a 2022, it is a year where there were a lot of supply chain issues and there were many sensors issues for that particular year. Good luck and let us know what your dealer finds out.
