Problems With A Valentine 1 Radar Detector
V1 will work fine through the tiny heated windshield wires. Our LR4 has the heated windshield wiring elements top to bottom and the Gen2 V1 has great long distance radar reception. V1 works just as well on our Defender.
The issue is some sort of UV blocking film that was added to the Defender windshield. I suspect this film partially blocks other UV/infrared/electronic signals. That is why there are film cutouts on each side of the rear view mirror. I have the V1 mounted in the left film cutout and EZ pass mounted in the right cutout. Again, both work fine when mounted in these areas.

Might need to drop $2,500 for a Stinger installation
We have the cutouts. But even with the "cutouts" you can still see the heater elements of you look closely.
We don't have a radar detector (haven't bothered in decades, mostly use situational awareness, other traffic Google maps, and a little luck)
That said our toll pass transponder (EZ-pass) would NOT work on the windshield even in the cutouts. It needed to go on the fixed portion of the sunroof.
As soon as mine arrives I'll let you know.
I have the cold weather package and my v1 sits up top on the left side of mirror and works great! It’s saved me. Plus my fastrak transponder sits on the dashboard and works and beeps on all of the fastrak lanes in Southern California. Weird I have no issues.
