Really don't know how to explain myself
Hi,
Never in all my years have I had such a gut reaction.
I really don't think I'm a Defender sort of guy.
It didn't stop me from buying one though.
2021 Defender 110 SE 400.
I have 200 miles on it. CA plates have not even arrived yet.
I have not approached the dealership about buying it back, that seems like my worst move $wise and drama.
Do I:
1. Keep it for a year, since the off the lot depreciation has already occured and I paid for a full year of CA registration already?
2. Sell ASAP to limit depreciation? And maybe there is high market demand as an assist?
3. Try to find brokers that sell overseas and risk getting blackballed by Landrover? Probably not sued from what I read.
Bob

Bucket list. Not impulse.
I appreciate any matter of fact statements and even the sarcasm/derision. Helps to sweat out the toxins.
When my cousin needed a reliable car I sold him my Mazda CX5, and instead of buying a new CX5, because that would be boring, I bought this "too much car"
My wife is on her second Land Rover and that has been great for her. And I've liked her cars, mostly because she does. That makes me feel good.
But now I'm driving one, and it is not the same. Brings me no joy. It's very weird. It seemed like a slam dunk.
Goodly space for hauling dogs/landscape supplies/whatever, spaceship electronic features, able to go on roads in Death Valley(et al) that I've never seen before.
I know I'm stuck with the grand daddy of all depreciating ****boxes. I'll get over it
It'll be interesting to see if this will the worst car decision I've made, or will the Saab 9-5 remain defending champion?
OR will I flip and become an avid owner?

First, I would go to a couple of LR dealers and get their buy-back value. These vehicles are in demand and incoming shipments to dealers are slowing down. It may not be as bad as you think. I'm thinking the less you drive it, the better chance of keeping it's value.
Post it in the classified section here and on Landroverforum.com. Dealers are not discounting Defenders, so post it at $3K off sticker. I would see what Carvana offers too.
Mistakes happen and no need to drive something you don't like. Sounds like another CX-5 is for you, or maybe an X5 which is an upgrade over a CX-5.
