Rear Recovery Eyes
Probably a silly question...I have a 110HSE p400e on order. With the build delay I asked the dealer if it was possible to fit the black exposed rear recovery eyes. It turns out that this option is only available if it is included as part of the Bright Exterior Pack so a £100 extra becomes a £1350 option... just wondering if you buy a second screw in eye-hook the same as the one that comes in the tool kit and leave the two eye hooks screwed in and exposed is this as effective an option as the exposed recovery points? Aesthetically they could be sprayed black or orange (and resprayed if necessary).
I dont understand alot of JLRs decision making on the options. Why limit the recovery eyes to the bright pack? I dont want chrome accents.
The recovery eyes are a very functional item. They should be standard as part of legitimizing the vehicle for off road use.
I am trying to confirm if they are standard on the XS model in the USA. Buyers guide appears to indicate they are not, but I cant understand why. You cant get the bright pack on the XS so seems really dumb.
I will go the powerfuluk route if that is what it takes.

I do (really) wonder why you'd not make them an option (along with ALL THE OTHER option), though. Charge a few bob, have them fitted, off we all go happy as lambs. I especially agree with the oddness of including them only with the Bright Pack, but oh well. This is why the aftermarket exists.
I mean. Technically, they're not 'required' to legitimise for off-road right? There's a hook in the toolkit as I understand it that screws in. Rather like the front point not being exposed without either the mods or the skidplate.

Once again the forums prove their value. Did not know this option existed, but glad I have found out. Will place my order as soon as my car arrives in the US! Question is red or black? What are people's thoughts?

Black. Red/orange/blue are a bit too "look at me, I'm a wild little off-roader" tacky IMHO, but whatever color you pick those recovery rings can be a real godsend on the trail. The screw-in eyelet thingie will also work in a pinch, but it doesn't have the same strength as the recovery eyes because of the way it attached to the vehicle, can be inconvenient to deploy when you need it (especially with a trunk full of camping gear) and easy to steal in a parking lot if you decide to leave it there permanently. Plus, PowerfulUK sells clever little frames that make the recovery eyes look "finished" on the bumper, instead of an add-on. They are not difficult to install on your own, watch the PowerfulUK video as it's very detailed. For their relatively reasonable price, they're a no-brainer upgrade if you go wheeling regularly.
I think (????) in both cases once the cover caps are removed the edges of the openings are not finished as well as they would be if the eyes were factory installed?
