I had issue with the selection of hitch extenders, they where all a bit too long. Probably unique to the 1UP rack, but it is a friction fit on the receiver and does not rely on the holes on the side. I rather wanted mine to be close to the vehicle for less motion. Motion becomes quite dramatic the longer you extend it, especially on lousy Forrest Service roads. You really don't need a swing gizmo with the 1UP as it kneels back easily, unless you have it in a 4 bike configuration. My case, it is usually just me, so I run one. My wife has started riding again, so I have two occasionally (1Up is really super easy to attach extra positions and remove them). Back to the point. I ended up making one the was 2" shorter than what I could find. I just cut up an old extension that also lowered the rack that I used with the Range Rover. I just happened to have some scrap in the hanger that was the correct size. I showed what I initially bought from, gads I have no recollection of where. Anyhow been using this for two years now and you hardly notice any wobble on the rack, albeit my Cyclocross bike weighs in at like 18 lbs.
The Defender really does react poorly to weight further out from the bumper or on top. At least my D90 does. So this helps the handling stay tight by keeping it close. Beside the price was right, free.
Enduro/DH guy here. Love my 1UP rack to bits and have abused it daily for ~5 years now. Having said that, that price is ridiculous. I use an Amazon extender that I picked up for ~25 bucks and it's the same thing.
