Default Remove front bumper

I’ve watched a few videos of how to remove the front bumper which is required to install the front undershield (VPLEP0436) and most look like they have a car with air suspension in off-road height.

I have a coil sprung D90 S. Should I jack up the front to give more room to work inside the wheel well or is this unnecessary?

Thanks

I recently installed the OEM front undershield. It is a bit fiddly, but taking off the front bumper is not necessary. I just had the Defender in off road height while working on it. The tricky part is trimming the bottom portion of the bumper to fit neatly with the top of the undershield and not have too much of a gap. I used a mult-tool cutter to trim. You will also have a big piece of black metal (old frame) that you will not know what to do with.

Two cents ..

Andy

I’ve never seen any mention of having to trim anything.

There are two versions: OEM and the “easy fit” powerfuluk version. The easy fit requires trimming. Sarek installed one of mine (OEM) without removing the front bumper. I watched, required a lift and hard work, but successful. Powerfuluk also has a video on this.

That’s what I thought as well.

Since I don’t have a lift I will be removing the front bumper as PowerfulUK, Lucky8, and at least one other YouTube video did.

I'll just add if my memory serves me is that you have trim off the plastic "cover" and some of the bumper to access the bolts to tighten the bracket. This may not be necessary with the Easy-Fit Solution.

That makes sense if you didn’t remove the bumper.

install instructions make no mention of trimming
