Replacement camera
So the front camera on my 2023 has several chips in it that are noticeable on the camera views. Does anyone know who supplies these? Where to buy? Or do I need to go through Land Rover. Anyone know the cost to replace?
Not having looked at the rest of the camera, I could be spouting rubbish. Automakers use parts supplied by many different suppliers, but specialty items like this are from a few manufacturers. They can be used over a wide variety of makes and models. If you look at the entire assembly, then look to a source of aftermarket parts, or used parts, like on eBay or Aliexpress, you may find the actual camera at a more realistic price. The only downside is that with electronics now, they kind of register the serial number among themselves with the onboard computer. I see this with the cameras on my survey drones. I know it sounds nuts, but I take them apart, modify the cameras to see in parts of the spectrum not visible to the naked eye. This would be a whole lot easier if I could (as was once possible) buy a camera from a destroyed drone, modify it, put it in the drone. Replace it with the original when done with the project. Not anymore, it internally registers the camera and throws up a bunch of codes. I have no idea if this is the case with the cameras on the Defender. Looking at the price I hope I never have to deal with replacing it. It may require the dealer, yes the guys who charge as much as my attorney, have to run a routine that registers the device internally.
