Resurrecting AT tire conversation - KO2s/KO3s, Duratracs, other recommendations?
I have the Goodyear All Adventure ATs 255/60/20. What would you all recommend for new tires? Mostly road, wet/dry but do want to take defender on beach this summer hard/soft sand and do some light off roading. Heard great things about KO2s/KO3s but sizing could be an issue. And seem to be more off road than on road tires. Can you fit the 275/55/20 on a defender 110? Also thinking about the Duratracs. Anybody have any experience with these? They come in the 255/60/20 size. Any recommendations greatly appreciated!!!

I had the KO2s (LT Rated) on my previous LR Discovery, and now I roll with the Falken wildpeak at4 (SL Rated) on the 110, i'll say overall the on-road manners are pretty similar. Drove the falken in wet weather and i thought it performed well, no slips whatsoever. I went with the SL to cut some weight and have been on very rocky situations with full load, the vehicle performed really well.
I may be coming from a different perspective but as an off-road enthusiast I wouldn’t say KO tires are more off-road oriented than on-road; my biggest complaint when I had a set of 315/70-17s on my Jeep was that they are too tame. They’re noisier than other options, IMO, but not because they’re biased toward off-road.
I remain a fan of Toyos and Nittos in the AT and RT flavors (if you’re not familiar with those ratings, RT was developed a few years ago to slot in between mild AT and hard-core MT, offering near MT levels of off-road traction with close-to-AT levels of smooth and quiet.) On my Jeep (2014) I run Kenda Klever RT601s, and it’s a great tire for the price, about 2/3 the cost of a similar Nitto when i got them a few years ago. On my L663 Defender I use the Cooper Discoverer RT. Very pleased.
Cheers.
