Default Tire choice???

My LR4 has 20 inch with Nitto Ridge Grappler 285/50/R20, am going to put them on my 2025 D130 (my daughter gets the LR4 and can have the 22 inch road tires from my D130.)

The Nitto’s are close to needing replacement. Any other recommendations?

Noise is a huge concern. This is the daily driver and family road trip vehicle.

Off road capability… mostly Florida dirt roads, fields, muddy tracks, nothing too hard core and no rock crawling.

The Nitto RG’s have been good, just wondering what else is out there.

I strongly recommend Vredestein Pinza AT. It's a highway focused AT tire that has exceptional pavement behavior and is very quiet. I did quite a lot of off-roading in conditions you described and a bit more. Never had a problem. I know a lot of folks want that agressive tire look. If that is important, than this great tire isn't for you.

I was also concerned at the noise and wet weather performance of the Ridge Grapplers so I went with Terra Grapplers which are said to be quieter and have much better Road and wet weather performance.

Toyo Open Country AT III

Had them on my G-wagon, F150 and now my Defender. My opinion is they are awesome for the use case you are describing.

Are KO2’s (or KO3’s) much louder than the Nittos? Don’t need that much functionality but like the look… white letters of course!

Tip: Don’t buy a tire for its ‘look’. Buy a tire for its functionality, its use, purpose and conditions it will face. Aggressive look = loud. I agree, some of those tires are very nice looking when viewed. Parked. But on the highway, at long distances, the drone will get old fast. There are trade offs in what you choose, but do your research into all aspects. Tire Rack has lots of feedback from purchasers and is the site I visit to read others on-road experiences. Nothing worse than plunking down a wad of cash, then realizing you’re not happy with your selection and have to live with it for the next 30-40k miles.

Understood, will look at Tire Rack reviews, as just looking for a few pointers here from people I trust a bit more. But you do make a valid point about looks vs. functionality.

The Nitto's have been pretty good for me, only 3-5 dB louder on the road than my stock LR4 tires, may just get those again.

I'm running the Falken Wildpeak AT3W. Good off-road, pretty decent on-road and decent in the snow. However, the longer I've had these tires, the less I like them. They were great new, and after almost 20k miles, they aren't as good as I was expecting. Will swap to the KO3 in OEM 20" size late this year or early next.

I've always put Nitto Terra Grapplers on my FJ Cruiser since the first tire change. They are a great tire with very good road manners. They do create a bit of road noise over your typical "AT wannabe" OEM type tire but as far as handling on the pavement, they are great. Offroad they are decent enough. In my mind the place that they really shine is in the snow. They just are very well behaved in the frozen precipitation.

Another nice aspect of them is that they have remarkable longevity. If I were keeping the truck past this year, I'd be replacing them not because of treat wear but because of date code.

I run K02's and very happy with the performance and noise levels.
