Default Reverse lamp upgrade "ROVCE brand" from Aliexpress: Pics

(update: scroll down to see my post where I installed these 2/27/23)

I'd ordered these reverse lights a month or so ago on AliExpress...as a bit of a flier to just see if they are good as I couldn't find any actual reviews. These pleasantly surprised, clear thought put thought into product design, quality, presentation. Appears to be a premium, OEM-type supplier. I don't speak Mandarin but it appears that either "ROVCE" or "ROYCE" or "SAL-MAN" is the manufacturer out of China.

I remember buying aftermarket BMW taillights years ago and the quality was laughable compared to OEM... not these.

Check this out. Will install soon and update the thread with pics and experience.

Installed. No issues. Harnesses good quality and pinned correctly -- I like them.

Unlike my recent front bumper bullbar / winch installation project, I am pleased to report 0.0 broken clips and tabs on trim pieces. Even though Powerful UK etc all recommend just "pulling hard" and "prying in the right spot" -- every time I do it, clips break. Even if I apply light heat... they break. It's really quite annoying. This is especially problematic when it's painted pieces that come primed from JLR and need painting. So... the LR official (aluminum certified ie expensive) bodyshop in town who is repainting some new bumper bits (post my break-everything bullbar install) said "spray dish soap in the cracks and that will allow them to pull off without breaking." And darned if they weren't totally correct.

Anyway -- pics. The white reverse lights are bright, but I'll test em tonight.

MY ONLY HESITATION: I don't think the red ring for taillamp/brake lamp is needed. I was going to de-pin these 2 wires in the light connector -- but I couldn't figure it out, it started to rain, so I just put them on as is (very small and fiddly connectors, my kit of tools wouldn't release).

I like them. Just want to ditch the red rings and I didn't want to create issues by just snipping wires (corrosion, ground issues, etc).

(took this after I removed it but spraying liberal dish soap/water solution in the cracks)

No broken tabs

What the trim piece looks like removed. Will store in garage.

PS - Annoyingly clearly the dealer broke this when they replaced the X taillights under recall last year. Wasn't me!

Installed (ish) & testing illumination. The red is a slightly different shade (more red than the JLR taillamp which are a bit pinkish by comparison).

Left side installed, right side not yet installed.

Moving on to the right side, spraying soap solution in the crevasses.

Not flush with the vehicle rear -- they protrude a little from the car (which matches the rest of the taillights). I think they'd look better recessed slightly but it ultimately looks OK to me.

I like em.

Very nice looking. Appear to be well made. Please keep us posted once you’ve installed them and have feedback.

Wow. Those harnesses look much better than the version I picked up a year or so ago. I had to pull out my electrical connector kit and go to town. I'm much happier when I don't have to play electrician. Post a link after install if you think they are bright enough. I had to drop one to fit my Rhino Ladder and would really like even more in my cyclops upgrade. Yeah, the originals candles still work....but it's still tragic.

Yes, these are the ones I purchased (in black surround, to match my X... others may prefer the red surround). And they've gone on sale! Apparently made by "ROYCE" which matches the hologram sticker on the back.

SO much better looking. I always wondered wtf is up with that little shelf. I'll wait until you test yours out before ordering. If they are blindingly bright, I'll cough up the $$ and wait for the container to ship.

Yes, these smoked/black ones will light up with the red ring according to the product description and some pics I saw.

I will, however, de-pin or snip the running light wires because I think there's enough red ring going on back there. It already looks like a semi truck with running lights everywhere. So I was thinking I didn't want this -- I'm just going to have the white reverse lights function.

Good to know. I'm not a fan of the red ring. I just want a reverse light that's brighter than a candle on Tau-Ceti Prime. Seems PowerfulUK is sold out at the moment. I've been putting this on the long finger for too long. Reversing at night in dark areas is a bloody nightmare.
