Default Running boards and Wade Sensing

Hi everyone, this is my first post. I'm the proud owner of a 2020 Defender 110. Since acquisition, I have installed some aftermarket accessories, being one of them the Running Boards. I included pictures of my ride

The issue is the when enter to the Wade Sensing section, it starts beeping and giving me wrong readings. Apparently the running boards creates a false water level reading. I think Water Sensing sensor located below the rear view mirror is bouncing with the running boards. Anyone is having the same issue?

No running boards here but it sounds like you know the issue.

Fwiw the wade sensing is a little kitchy. I mean water crossings don't have to be gradual and if they drop off suddenly you're already screwed by the time the drop off is measured by the sensor since your front wheel already fell in.

I’m curious whether this only happens in wade mode? Assume once the water is above the running board, all good?

Agree w/ @Simon14 . Have you been in water over the running boards?

Yes, I have been in water over the running boards and it works good. Seems the interference with the boards when water is below is the issue. Just wanted to know if there are others with same issue. Thanks

I have found wade sensing does not work in shallow water. I confirmed this before and after installing rock sliders. I can found nowhere the minimum depth specification.

I am looking forward to find a suitable lake to test them, now that I have the winch in and tested out fully. I will report back whenever this happens.

Some guy over in a Facebook group towed his boat out into what looked like the middle of the lake. Then unhitched the boat and drove back in. Maybe he might know...
