I recently dropped off my Defender 130 YM2024 at the dealer after a year of ownership to address a few issues. One particularly frustrating problem is that my satellite navigation maps randomly disappear while I'm driving until they're completely gone with only the base -gray- layer remaining. I'm currently on 4.2.1 Pivi Pro update, and a system reset didn’t resolve it.
A rather strange behavior occurs when I try to eject the SIM card from the vehicle: the maps briefly reappear, only to disappear again. Furthermore, I’m no longer receiving traffic updates on the satellite maps, even though my SIM card data is still functioning.
The dealer mentioned that satellite navigation maps are linked to the InControl system, which my vehicle lacks due to regional restrictions. However, I’ve had fully functioning maps for well over a year, so that explanation doesn’t quite make sense to me.
Has anyone experienced a similar issue? Any thoughts on what might have caused this problem?
That would be a problem with the vehicle's cellular connection. That happens to me sometimes when I'm in an area with poor reception. Most likely you are having cellular interference or in a spot with bad cell service.

Thank you for your response. It appears the issue persists even in areas with excellent mobile coverage.
Even though the maps are disappearing, the GPS function still accurately tracks my direction of travel. I’ll have it checked nonetheless.
Looking at the pic of your IP display, I see that the bottom left portion of the nav map is loaded, with detail, while the other 3/4 of the map is greyed out. You report it as randomly occurring; how often does it occur, and does it eventually load? Or is that the way it remains until a reboot or engine shutdown and restart? I ask, because from personal experience, I’ve had iPhones and iPads that occasionally partially load a map, whether I’m in Waze, or Google Maps And sometimes if I’m patient and wait it out it will eventually load fully, or I’ll just quit the app and restart. Those I just view as system hiccups, but if your problem is consistent, frequent and not self resolving, then it does need some attention. I agree with antenna suggestion.

Very frequent, and it does not load back. Remains greyed out!

Restarting Pivi seems to have no effect on it reloading or going back normal.
Update:
My dealer found no faults with the GPS antenna system. However, they stated that the satellite navigation system requires an active InControl Pro Services subscription, which I don’t have, since it’s not supported in my country.
For context:
My vehicle doesn't have the InControl module installed.
The InControl app isn’t available in my App Store region.
I’ve had the vehicle for over a year with no issues.
Satellite navigation is working just fine for now. Yeah, strange, especially considering what they told me!
Here’s the confusing part:
Pivi shows my mobile operator details, but I can’t seem to get any 4G data. I’m unsure whether the dealer disabled something or if it’s a system-side issue. I checked the CCF using my GAP IID Tool and it shows the SIM settings are correctly identified.
So my question is: Is there really any direct link between Pivi Pro satellite navigation and InControl Pro Services? Or is the dealer just giving a generic response? Is there a way to check if SIM data services are active using the GAP IID Tool?
If it will help you test this once and for all -- It’s April 14th and ... my connected Navigation Pro subscription expires in 2 days on April 16 (See image below. I do not plan on renewing it. Let’s see if my satellite features on the maps disappear. I’ll report back end of week.
