Default Service records for DIY’ers

I prefer to perform my own oil changes, tire rotations, brake pad and rotor replacement, belts, hoses, etc. Obviously, when having this work done at the dealership, the records of any work are recorded in a JLR database which can be accessed, requested, printed, to be provided to any future purchaser should I decide to sell, or to provide proof of maintenance to bolster warranty claims. What is my best option/track to take to have this proof if needed? I’m sure if I had a major engine problem, the dealer would require proof that all required maintenance was performed before honoring any warranty claims. Beyond keeping receipts for oil and filters replaced, or other parts replaced, what else could I, or should I, be doing to avoid any issues? Thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks, I’ll look into this further, but it seems as if it’s main purpose is for tracking maintenance on a vehicle done previously, which is inputted when the work is done. I need to know how to prove the work that I will/would perform on my own vehicle in case I need to prove it for warranty claims. Will the dealership accept my receipts and my word that I have changed the oil and filter according to the required Maintenance Schedule, and any other maintenance performed along the way.

Magnuson Moss and the FTC are pretty clear on this. You can have whomever you want, including yourself, do the work but you have to keep receipts and use parts that are compatible with the vehicle.

If substitute aftermarket parts cause a problem, they have a basis for denying a claim as long as the damage was caused by the use of that part. As in, an aftermarket cabin air filter can't blow your engine but non-compliant oil could.

Taking pictures may be useful. They will have a date of creation on your device. Uploading them to a cloud will also confer a date of storage.

Together with dated receipts for supplies and parts it's a reasonable way to accurately date/document what you've purchased and what work you've done. Useful if there was any questioning the veracity of your DIY service history.

I'm sure if they wanted to dispute things, it would be more hassle than if you had a dealer/garage do it but it's a small risk I think. I like doing simple stuff so I'm in the same boat. Heck you could even make a thread about what work you've done here. Some folks have been known to do that.
